Act 1:
In the novel "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare, Macbeth shows all of us that pursuing power will lead to do inhumane things and isn't worth it. Act 2: In the novel "Macbeth", Macbeth is this strong warrior that everyone worshiped, until he somehow got the position of King. In Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth gets a prophecy saying he's going to be King. "All hail, Macbeth, that salt be King hereafter!!"(1.3.53). And because of this so-called prophecy, he began his pursuit for power, which lead him killing the reigning King, King Duncan, a mother and her children, and even his best friend Banquo, and attempting to kill Banquo's son Fleance. This left him with guilt and paranoia, allowing him to see ghosts. "Avaunt, and quit my sight!//Let the earth hide thee."(3.4.110-111). His hallucinations caused him to become a terrible King in front of the people and people started to question his rule, and to add on, his wife, Lady Macbeth, died because of it. And all of this just so he can continue his reign. It wasn't until Macbeth got what came to him and was beheaded by Macduff, the father to the mother and children Macbeth killed. This just proves to show that some prophecies aren't meant to be fulfilled and the want for power will leave guilt haunting you.

Does Lady Macbeth's mental condition come as a surprise or was this possibility part of her character from the beginning? Explain.
-At first, it was a surprise to me that she had a condition, but now it makes sense. I can see how her character reacts from the beginning to the end. It's possible her condition caused her to act like nothing matters in the beginning when they killed King Duncan and that only they should matter. Who or what do you think is ultimately repsonsible for Macbeth's death? Give reasons. Originally, Macduff is responsible for Macbeth's death. However, Macbeth's attitude and decisions throughout this whole novel was mainly the reason he got killed, and partially his wife was a cause too. What do you think is Shakespeare's opinion of Macbeth? Lady Macbeth? Explain. How does Macbeth receive the news of his wife's death? How does Macduff reveal Macbeth's doom? What is the significance of Malcolm's ascension to the throne? What does the decision to murder Macduff's family show about Macbeth?
-It shows that Macbeth is selfish and doesn't care about anyone else but his reign as king and proves that he will kill anyone that gets in his way. What is the purpose of the scene between Lady Macduff and her son? -It was suppose to show that the son was sad that Macduff died, but he was smart and wise enough to know that his father was alive. Also to show that Macduff leaving doesn't change how they live today. How does Malcolm test Macduff? -Malcolm wants Macduff everyone to know what Macbeth did, but Macduff was too scared because people may think that he killed King Duncan. But, Malcolm tries to push him and tell him that Macbeth is an evil man and doesn't deserve the title of King. How does Macduff receive the news of his loss? -He doesn't accept the info being taken in and asks if anyone else survived the ambush when no one did. He's confused, angry, guilty, it's a lot of mixed emotions. But he feels guilty because he thinks it's his fault his family was killed because he abandoned them when in crisis.
Assignment #1: Shakespeare Citation Quote one, two, and three lines from the text with the appropriate citation.
Quote 1: "I have done the deed" (2.2.18) Quote 2: "The deeds must not be thought/After these ways. So, it will make us mad."(2.2.43-44) Quote 3: "By th’ clock ’tis day,/ And yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp./ Is ’t night’s predominance or the day’s shame /That darkness does the face of Earth entomb /When living light should kiss it??"(2.4.7-11) Assignment #2: 1. In your opinon, is Lady Macbeth a cold-blooded murderer? why/why not? In a way, yes she is a cold blooded murderer because she had the means to kill the King and she was the mastermind behind the whole plan. Also she wasn't caught for the murder. 2. Lady M has her own antics throughout the play. Why does Lady M faint in Act II? Does it serve its purpose? Her fainting was just to make it look like she didn't do it. However it does serve a purpose because her fainting made the other believe she didn't kill the King and that'll change the story up a bit. Plus Macduff told her that "The repetition, in a woman’s ear, Would murder as it fell.", meaning the the news wasn't for a woman to hear, leading to faking her faint. 3. How does Macbeth's attitude toward Duncan change after the murder? He tries to hide the fact that he killed the King but also tries to sympathize with everyone else. He also feels somewhat guilty because he cause the mess, but the others didn't know the real reason why he felt guilty. 4. If so pressuring on Macbeth, why didn't Lady M kill the king instead of Macbeth? Lady Macbeth wanted Macbeth to kill the King because maybe she wanted Macbeth to pay for letting in the King into their home because she knew that Macbeth would over think things. 5. Now that Macbeth has killed the king, do you think he must do anything else to reign as king? Explain. Yes, because King Duncan had a lot of followers and people who loved him. Those people won't stop at nothing to find who killed him. And murders can leave trails. If they somehow find out that Macbeth killed the King, Macbeth would probably have to do something about it. 1. What is the relationship between Macbeth and his wife? Explain.
Macbeth is a warrior who fought in two battles back to back and won. he is also the Thane of Glamis and Cawdor. And his wife is mischievous and wants Macbeth to be king. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth to play on an act in front of the king and plans to kill him for the title. But, Macbeth doesn't want to go through with it even with all the evil thought roaming in his mind. 2. Why does Macbeth ultimately decide to murder Duncan? Macbeth goes on to believe the prophecy that the weird sisters told him saying he will be Thane of Cawdor, then king. Since he became Thane of Cawdor, he assumed that he had to be king and the only way it to kill the king and take the throne for himself. 3. Explain Macbeth's character thus far in the story. Macbeth is the type of person to think long and hard about his decisions. In the novel, there are a lot of times where he is talking to himself and reflecting, and although he had thoughts on killing the king he didn't want to do it, at first, and he's very gullible. So the prophecy said he would become the Thane of Cawdor doesn't mean he could become the king. Him getting the Thane of Cawdor position was just a coincidence. He's also kind of a push over because he doesn't anything his wife says because she's controlling and scary. But behind all that, he is genuinely a good person. He's very selfless by winning the battles. 4. Do you think he will get away with the murder? Provide reasoning. Honestly from what I've read, the plan does seem solid, but I could think of a bunch of things that could go wrong. Like what if the drunk servants aren't as drunk as the Lady Macbeth wanted them to be. Also only time will tell when someone figures out who really murdered the king. But I think it would be really interesting to see what would happen if he did get away with the murder. 5. Do “the ends justify the means”? That is, if one uses morally evil methods to acquire a goal, is that goal forever tainted or polluted by the actions one has taken to achieve it? It really depends on the motive someone has to do such an illegal act. In the sense of killing the king and seeing Macbeth's character, something is king to slip up because he doesn't want to be responsible for and act. -What is the one thing you look forward to after all this quarantine is done? Coming of Age Graphic roughWord Choice ManiaI never knew what it would feel like to lose a family member. My dad is like my best friend because I can always go to him for advice and someone I could really talk to. Now I won’t be able to do that anymore because he’s gonna be half way around the world risking his life. But all I can say is that I am so proud of him. He always wanted to help those I need and now he’ll be able to have that opportunity. I’m gonna cry a river when he’s gone. But I know he’s gonna be OK because I know he’ll always be there when the going gets tough
Today my grandpa ran the 8 mile marathon and I am just jumping for joy for him. My grandpa is pretty frail, but that didn’t stop him from doing what he loves. He is an outgoing, enthusiastic person and wants to spend everyday like an adventure. When I saw his smile when he was on the marathon route, I couldn’t help but smile with and for him. At first I was afraid that he would get hurt and would need to go the hospital, but I had this voice in head saying that he’s gonna be OK because he is strong and that he could pull through. I am just so proud of him.
Making videos and food are my two favorite things to do. So I decided to combine the two. I planned on making a cooking tutorial and posting it on YouTube. I always wanted to make musubis. After many trials, I finally made the perfect batch of musubis with perfect shots to concoct a video. I then asked my uncle is he would want to taste test my recipe. My uncle never tried musubis before so I asked if he wanted to eat some for my video and he agreed. In the end my video turned out to be great and I thanked my uncle like a thousand times.
Music always makes me feel better about my self because I am able to create something beautiful with the people I love. I joined marching my sophomore year and I always thought of marching band as a very intense group of people. But in reality, they are only intense when they have to to be. I always enjoy their company and they are fun group to talk to. I thought that I was gonna be anti-social in marching band because I didn’t know anyone, I learned to make new friends and that the closer we get, the better we as a section. Marching band is one of the best experiences I’ve had in high school.
Angry Letter RoughAs a Boy Scout of America, I enjoy all the activities and experiences that the BSA has to offer. The fun camps, the eager requirements, and the leadership expertise we learn. However, I am furious at the fact that girls can join Boy Scouts. Girls should not be allowed in the BSA because if they want to learn leadership duties and experience the outdoors, they can join GSUSA. I understand why they want to join BSA because of the different ways that Girl Scouts work. The ranking is much different, BSA gets a very prestigious award at the end of their BSA road, the eagle rank, and they want to make Scouting co-Ed. But I feel that this has gone too far.
As you may know, Boy scouts were founded by Baden Powell, specifically for boys to become men and ready for the real world. And this system has been working great for many, many years. Until recently, girls started to have a say in BSA. I've looked on both the BSA and the GSUSA websites to compare differences, and what I found was that there was barely a difference between the two organizations. They both teach life skills and leadership skills, we do the same fun activities as each other, and we both want to do our duty to god and be helpful. There is no point for girls to join BSA if GSUSA is similar. Plus it disrespects the founder who founded both BSA and GSUSA. Today, girls want to be more superior because boys always get credit for doing things, like leading. I understand that girls want to develop leadership skills and be a leader, but participating in BSA shouldn't be one of them. From the GSUSA, they said that " The need for female leadership has been clearer or more urgent than it is today-and Girl scouts has the expertise to give girls or young women the tools they need for success." Girls should do girl scouts then if this quote is true. Girl Scouts is one of the best girl-involved organization around the world, and the fact that they have to join BSA to prove that they are worthy to be a leader isn't right. One of the only differences between BSA and GSUSA is ranking. Girls want to join BSA because of the ranking difference between the two organizations. GSUSA is ranked by age and grade, while BSA is ranked by skill and knowledge. Although the way GSUSA ranks their scouts, they can always change the way the GSUSA ranking system works. They don't have to join BSA because of the ranking when they change their ways instead of changing ours BSA is a fun organization and I want girls to experience the same fun as we do, but GSUSA should change their ways so that they can experience the same guidance and fun activities that we love to do. I hope you take this into consideration. Risky Business FinalPeople today have changed remarkably. The way they talk, dress and even interact. With people evolving, so has the technology. We went from inventing the wheel, to building skyscrapers and new devices like the phone. Now, the most popular past time that teens do is scroll through their feed on social media. Social media apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and many other social media apps have been leaving scars in the online world. There has been a recent report stating that there are 3.48 billion social media users across the world and that number is still increasing, and it is that many people who are hurting. Social media is proven to be hurting teens and adults physically, and it is starting to show negatively. Many people's physical health is starting to display adverse effects, and social media is the cause of it because many develop depression which causes people to be unhealthy physically and mentally, advertisements and influencers can promote untrue facts about our health, foods, and blue lights from the screens cause eye damage.
Social media has harmful effects on our health, mentally and physically. Social media can also cause jealousy and severe depressive symptoms, and many viewers always tend to compare themselves to more successful, rich people, or idolizing, and idolizing leads to viewers thinking less of themselves, but usually, idols like to show off. One study proved that at least 52% of social media users get cyberbullied, and because of this, users become depressed and discouraged to be out in the open. However, most of these problems are preventable. For example, people choose to compare themselves to idols. They could avoid that problem by avoiding those kind of people on social media and they choose to be in front of a screen. Also, the cyberbullied can choose to be a victim, or to ignore the situation. Yet, problems like these are not always avoidable. It is normal for someone to idolize, and social media makes idols look too irresistible to look away. Viewers should never compare themselves to famous idols, who are just regular people in disguise. Also, cyberbullying is a very harsh kind of harassment and many people do not just forget about it. Social media keeps us in a deep, dark hole that many struggle to escape. Social media also have pop-up advertisements that promote unhealthy foods, and many people cannot help but watch or look at the ads posted. There are specific techniques that marketers use to get consumers to buy their products, and are very persuasive with their advertisements. Sometimes, marketers do not explain all the consequences of the product, and they sell it by saying untrue facts about it, and right now, digital marketing is developing at an accelerating rate. Social media has one of the worst pop up ads posted that attract people’s attention. For example, companies like Coca-Cola are huge in the advertising industry because their commercials and advertisements are shown all over social media, movie theaters, billboards, and many more. Although they make their products look appetizing, little do they know that the food introduced is very unhealthy. Social media ads force the user to watch whatever is in front of them, and the companies get lots of money from the products they sell. However, viewers do not need to watch it. They have the option to either skip the ad or scroll through it. Users do not realize that marketers are just trying to lure us in with their products so they can take our money. Resistance is one of the qualities people need when a situation like this comes up. Do not let the producers catch us in their trap. What the most critical fact about social media and phones, is that blue light from phones, computers, television sets, and many other electronic devices, can permanently blind or strain our eyes. In the color spectrum, blue rays have shorter wavelengths and use more energy, and white phone screens can have vital blue components to produce a white screen. Phone addiction is when LED lights or blue lights shines from your device and it makes it hard for people to stop looking at their phone and it becomes addictive. The average person looks on his or her phone 150 times a day, about 39 million people are legally blind, and 246 million people have low vision or have glasses, and social media is to blame. However, blue light can be a benefit because blue light can boost alertness, help with memory, and cognitive functions. Plus it elevated our mood and regulated the circadian cycle. Technology has been evolving at an accelerating rate and blue light is one of the most used and effective way to make today’s technology successful. When the blue light shines in our eyes, it shines through the cornea and reaches the retina, which causes strain in the eyeball, and it can permanently age our eyes faster. What many experts say is to put the screen 20-26 inches away from the face. It can also cause fatigue, dry eyes, and irritated eyes. Social media is so addictive that it is starting to hurt growing teens. It is becoming a problem in this timeline." Try to decrease the amount of time spent in front of these screens and take frequent breaks to give our eyes a rest," says preventblindness.org. Spending too many hours on our phones or devices can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle and can have harmful effects on our overall health. This statement points out to be true because many people sit around on their phones, scrolling through their feed, and missing out on the world. They can always turn off their phones, go outside and hang with friends. Having the ability to obtain a social media account is thrilling, but users need to remember that they should take a break from phones and enjoy life.
